This is discouraging. New Orleans Saints running back Travis Etienne Jr. will have “time lost” to a hamstring injury, head coach Kellen Moore told reporters Monday afternoon. Etienne pulled up late after aggravating his left hamstring on a run against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday; he had been limited at practice throughout the week because of it.
At least a stint on injured reserve is only a possibility, not a certainty, for now. Moore said the team will take advantage of extra time before next week’s Monday night game with the Atlanta Falcons to evaluate Etienne’s condition and make a decision. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, the Saints have Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and CJ Donaldson on the 53-man roster with Zamir White still on the practice
squad. Don’t be surprised if they add more help in case this leads to a longer absence for Etienne. Backups Devin Neal and Austin Estime were both recently waived from injured reserve but it’s probably too soon to re-sign them due to their injury settlement conditions.
