This is a cool change to how the New Orleans Saints announce their weekly uniform combinations. With some few exceptions for national broadcasts, the Saints have let team captains vote on their jerseys and pants each week. Now that alternate helmets and a wider array of jerseys have been introduced, and with big changes on top of the team's organization chart after Kellen Moore was hired as head coach, they've taken a new approach. The Saints released a uniform schedule similar to what other teams use -- the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams are prominent examples -- highlighting the helmets and jerseys to be worn in every regular season game. Captains will still vote on the corresponding pants in each week's game.

If you're keeping score, the Saints are going to use their traditional gold helmets in 12 of their 17 games, mixing it up with three "Color Rush" games in matching white helmets and two midseason appearances in the black lids. Black jerseys are being worn seven times (including their early-morning game overseas in Paris) and white jerseys will be used six times -- it's a sweet choice to pick them again for the Monday night matchup with the Atlanta Falcons celebrating the reopening of the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. Those are the same white jerseys the Saints wore in that game back in 2006, but we'll have to wait and see if they choose the same gold pants. The "Color Rush" alternates will be used three times but Cameron Jordan's favorite gold jerseys will only be worn once, coming out of the bye week.
A new uniform set will be introduced in 2027 or 2028 as part of the NFL's "Rivalries" collaboration with Nike, which has yielded mixed results. Hopefully they'll take inspiration from the clean Mardi Gras jersey worn by Saints safety Justin Reid in this year's Krewe of Tucks parade. For now, fans know exactly what to grab from their closet on every Saints game day in 2026.
