This is a bad sign for Pete Werner's availability against the Atlanta Falcons. The New Orleans Saints are bringing up two players from their practice squad for Monday Night Football: backup linebacker Jackson Sirmon and edge rusher Fadil Diggs. Werner has been dealing with a shoulder injury and is official listed as questionable for Monday night's matchup. But depth issues at linebacker go beyond Werner. The Saints already ruled out their other starter, Kaden Elliss, due to a calf injury after neither he nor Werner were able to practice this week. Top backup Jaylan Ford is another week or more away from returning from injured reserve. That means it'll be Danny Stutsman starting next to Isaiah Stalbird or Chris Rumph II if Werner can't play. Sirmon,
son of Saints linebackers coach Pete Sirmon, should be expected to pick up the slack special teams.
Things aren't much better out on the edge. Starting pass rusher Carl Granderson isn't available due to an ankle injury, and neither is his backup Anfernee Jennings, who is dealing with a knee issue. Tyree Wilson has been unplayable in the last two games so it'll be Diggs backing up Chase Young and Cameron Jordan. Jonah Williams and David Ojabo were also options on the practice squad but the Saints must have decided they weren't ready yet.
