With three preseason games behind them, the New Orleans Saints are actively working to assemble their 53-man roster for the 2026 regular season. It's important to remember that this is just the initial look at the team; waiver claims, free agent signings, injury decisions, and more factors will change the makeup between now and Sept. 13.
New Orleans went into the weekend with 91 players on their roster, but they must reduce that group by 5 p.m. CT this afternoon (Aug. 30) to just 53 names. Waiver claims will be processed
at 12 p.m. CT on Monday, and then the Saints can begin building their practice squad. They'll be limited to 16 players unless they bring back Irish kicker Charlie Smyth or another International Pathway Program participant, in which case they'll be granted a roster exemption.
