Another veteran released by the New Orleans Saints has quickly found himself a new home. The Washington Commanders announced Tuesday that they signed cornerback Isaac Yiadom to their practice squad. New Orleans terminated Yiadom's contract Sunday as part of its final round of moves to reach the NFL's 53-man roster limit.
The move comes shortly after former Saints safety Terrell Burgess landed with the Tennessee Titans, though Burgess was signed directly to the Titans' active roster. Yiadom instead gives the Commanders an experienced option to develop and potentially elevate from its practice squad during the season, which also ends the possibility of him returning to the Saints' practice squad.
Yiadom was in his second stint in New Orleans after
returning on a three-year deal before the 2025 season. He appeared in 14 games with one start last year, contributing on defense while taking on a significant role on special teams. Yiadom finished the season with 26 total tackles and a tackle for loss. His best season in New Orleans came during his first stint in 2023, when he appeared in all 17 games and recorded 14 pass deflections and an interception before signing with the San Francisco 49ers the following offseason.
The 30-year-old gets another opportunity in Washington entering the 2026 regular season. As for the Saints, the team will look to move forward with a younger cornerback room entering Week 1, and they could explore outside additions as the season progresses.
