After catching high-profile games like Michigan-Indiana and Miami-Pitt last week, the New Orleans Saints college scouting department hit the road for another look at top prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft. The bye week gave coaches and scouts an opportunity to check in on some of the top talents coming out of college in the spring, but where exactly were the Saints seen in attendance? Here's a look at where they were spotted and which 2027 prospects helped themselves.
Missouri at Arkansas
The Saints were one of five teams credentialed for Missouri-Arkansas, per Columbia Missourian's Joey Van Zummeran, along with the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The big story was Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy making his return
after suffering a gunshot wound at a concert in the offseason; he had two carries for five yards while working his way back. His teammate Jamal Roberts ran 23 times for 138 yards and a score while catching three passes for 20 yards and another touchdown. Arkansas edge rusher Quincy Rhodes was shut down by Mizzou left tackle Cayden Green in a matchup between two top-50 prospects.
Virginia at Wake Forest
The Daily Progress beat reporter Greg Madia spotted the Saints among three teams on the UVA-Wake Forest press box seating chart, joined by the 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers. Wake Forest freshman running back Jamar Searcy led the team to a dominant win at 9.8 yards per carry, but his junior teammate Ty Clark III had three rushing touchdowns and senior wideout Carlos Hernandez was ungaurdable on eight catches for 136 yards and a score. Virginia wide receiver Da'Shawn Martin, another senior, made a game of it with nine receptions for 119 yards and the Cavaliers' only touchdown.
Mississippi State at Texas
Six teams were in attendance, including the Saints, per Eric C. Henry for 247 Sports, who also observed scouts from the Chargers, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles. Mississippi State cornerback Kelley Jones, a first-round prospect, only allowed two catches and a single first down conversion in a blowout. Texas edge defender Colin Simmons missed this one with an ankle injury but Longhorns wideout Emmett Mosley V (a third-day prospect) excelled with four catches for 98 yards and a touchdown, including a 36-yarder against Jones.
Texas State at Boise State
It's not clear if they had any scouts in the building, but Saints head coach Kellen Moore was on hand for the unveiling of a statue in his likeness as the winningest quarterback in college football history. And he got a good look at Boise State running back Dylan Riley who fought hard for 86 rushing yards and a clutch touchdown run in a game the Broncos only won by a single point.
