Between a close overtime Week 1 loss on the road to the Detroit Lions and an impressive victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, the New Orleans Saints have started to put their name on the radar in the NFL. After multiple years of mediocre to bad teams, 2026 seems to be the first time we really have seen them step up again and surge towards the top half of NFL power rankings.
To open the season, the Saints had +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl according to historical odds via Pro Football Reference. For reference, at the time, this was tied as the fourth-worst odds in the NFL alongside the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns.
However, sportsbooks are starting to shift gears, with DraftKings placing New Orleans at No. 24 out of 32, with +8000
odds, now higher than the Carolina Panthers (+9000) and Atlanta Falcons (+15000), and approaching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5500). All three of their division rivals kicked off the season with better odds than the Saints, which have rapidly evaporated following multiple key losses.
Week 3 provides an opportunity for New Orleans to continue to prove themselves, taking on a 2-0 Las Vegas Raiders team that have yet to really show a clear definitive answer as to whether they are truly a good team or not. Regardless, in a division where they are tied for the lead with the Panthers at 1-1, with both the Falcons and Buccaneers and 0-2 with dismal losses of their own, it may only be time before the Saints odds rise into the top half of the NFL, or further.
