We've gotten a look at the first New Orleans Saints injury report of the 2026 season. With big names like running back Alvin Kamara (knee) and defensive end Cameron Jordan (hamstring) waylaid at training camp, it's worth checking in on their status going into Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. The Saints will need all hands on deck to take on a team widely viewed as a serious playoff contender -- especially with this one being played at Ford Field, far away from home. Here's what you need to know.
New Orleans Saints injury report
Let's start with the good news. Running backs Alvin Kamara (knee) and Kendre Miller (unspecified) were both observed practicing during the period open to media. Now the bad news: Cameron Jordan was not present, and he's been preemptively ruled out for
Week 1, per head coach Kellen Moore. Other players not seen during the open portion of practice included running back Audric Estime (thigh) and tight end Oscar Delp (hamstring) as well as practice squad wide receivers Cedric Tillman and Trey Palmer. Moore added that defensive end Jonah Williams was dealing with a medical issue and was waived after the team decided he wasn't ready to contribute. Kamara was limited.
Detroit Lions injury report
The Lions did not practiice Wednesday, so we'll have to wait until Thursday for a real look at their participation statuses. Detroit estimated three players would have been limited to start the week: defensive back Christian Izien (groin), edge rusher Derrick Moore (hamstring), and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo (goin). Five other players would have practiced fully while receiving treatment: cornerback Keith Abney II (hand), safety Thomas Harper (ankle), linebacker Trevor Nowaske (knee), cornerback Ennis Rakestraw (ankle), and linebacker Jimmy Rolder (hamstring).
