The New Orleans Saints
received a significant injury update on rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, who has been one of the team's biggest standouts throughout training camp. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Monday that Tyson is expected to miss roughly two months because of the hamstring injury he suffered during the Saints' joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rapoport added that Tyson has been consulting with experts and could begin the regular season on short-term injured reserve.Tyson exited practice early last Thursday after suffering the injury. Initially, there was some optimism, with reports indicating it didn't appear to be overly serious. The most recent update, though, presents a much longer timeline for
his return.
The injury is a tough development for both Tyson and a Saints offense that was preparing to give the rookie a significant role immediately. New Orleans selected Tyson with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and he's quickly generated buzz in his first NFL training camp.
If Tyson does begin the season on injured reserve, the Saints will have to lean more heavily on the rest of their wide receiver room alongside Chris Olave while waiting for their prized rookie to return. A roughly two-month timetable could put Tyson in position to return sometime in October, depending on how his rehab progresses. Wide receivers Devaughn Vele, Barion Brown, and Bryce Lance could be candidates to take a step up in Tyson's absence.
