New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough had his worst performance as a pro in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The second-year pro only put up 96 yards of offense on 25 pass attempts against an aggressive Vikings defense that kept him under pressure early and often. After the game, Shough faced questions about his bandaged non-throwing hand. He said it didn't impact his mechanics in passing or handing the ball off, but his response when asked if it was broken felt telling.
"Um, there's, I'm not even sure if I can answer that," Shough said. "But it was kind of banged up a little bit this week. It didn't really affect me at all, like I said."
Shough was listed on the injury report this week with an unspecified injury to his left hand
after getting nicked up during last week's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and he went into this game wearing a glove and bandage. He also had his left pinky and ring finger pinned together with a brace. He did have to hand off the ball to running backs with his right hand instead of his left, but that didn't lead to any turnovers or delays in the procedure.
Whatever he's dealing with, let's hope it's a temporary hurdle to overcome. The Saints haven't produced anything offensively without Shough throwing the ball.
