The New Orleans Saints scouting department was busy in the second week of the college football season. Playmakers like Penn State Nittany Lions tight end Benjamin Brahmer and Michigan Wolverines cornerback Jyaire Hill put themselves on New Orleans' radar, but Jeff Ireland's scouts made other stops around the country, too. We only know the games the Saints have been reported to be at, so there's a lot out there we aren't privy to. But here's a look at the games the Saints were spotted attending and which 2027 NFL Draft prospects made the most of their opportunities.
Penn State vs. Temple
The Saints were one of twelve teams in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field (the Philadelphia Eagles' home stadium), per Nittany Central's David Malandra Jr., with 6-foot-7 Penn State
tight end Benjamin Brahmer seen as the top prospect in the game. He lived up to that billing by catching five passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon. Brahmer and his teammate Marcus Neal Jr., a safety, are both seen as potential top-100 picks in the 2027 draft class.
Kentucky vs. Alabama
Seven NFL teams made the trip to Lexington, including the Saints, with the Indianapolis Colts sending two representatives per On3's Charlie Potter. Alabama is loaded with draft prospects, as usual, but Kentucky has two big guys in the trenches to watch closely: defensive lineman Tavion Gadson and left tackle Lance Heard. Gadson had 1.5 sacks and a pass breakup against Alabama. Heard held Yhonzae Pierre (the Crimson Tide edge rusher, a likely first-round pick) to a single QB pressure on nine reps before Alabama moved Pierre to the other side of the line, where he bagged his other three pressures.
Michigan vs. Oklahoma
A dozen teams were represented at "The Big House," with On3's Anthony Broome spotting Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes among them. The Saints were also in that crowd. Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone (6-foot-3, 315 pounds) was the big draw as a possible top-10 pick but his teammates Taylor Wein (an edge rusher) and Eli Bowen (a corner) are hoping to reach the top-100. Michigan's class isn't as star-studded as previous years but 6-foot-2 cornerback Jyaire Hill and edge rusher John Henry Daley are both projected to be third-round picks. Hill's fourth-quarter interception set up a go-ahead touchdown to upset Oklahoma, the nation's No. 11-ranked team.
