Zxavian Harris is trying to get back to the NFL after leaving New Orleans Saints training camp. .Now Harris has tried out for an NFL team -- but not the Saints. He was one of several free agents who made the trip for a group workout with the Green Bay Packers, according to the daily league transactions wire. Harris has not signed with the Packers yet, but he's obviously on their radar. The 6-foot-8, 330-pound defensive lineman was a coveted
prospect by draft analysts but wasn't picked due to recent foot surgery and a couple of arrests in college. He's probably going to catch on with a team's practice squad at some point.
Is it disappointing that he isn't in play for New Orleans? Sort of. The Saints didn't guarantee him anything when they signed him this spring, and he never even got onto the practice field while recovering from surgery. But they were the first team to give him a shot, and with their defensive line getting gashed in Week 1, you'd like to have more options than who is currently on top of the depth chart. But they may have already seen what they needed from Harris over the summer to decide other players could be better fits for them. Stay tuned.
