Is this the week Jordyn Tyson returns to the practice field? Help would be appreciated after the New Orleans Saints managed their lowest scoring output of the season (a 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, with one of the Saints' two touchdowns scored by their defense), but it doesn't sound like Tyson will be back just yet. Here's the latest on the first-round wide receiver from New Orleans Saints coach Kellen Moore, who was asked if Tyson would return to practice this week.
"Not right now," Moore said. "And, uh, but he's progressing well. He's done a good job."
That means Tyson won't be available for Week 6's road game with the New York Giants, putting his soonest return date in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers -- in Paris. The Saints will
rest during their Week 8 bye, so if Tyson doesn't return for that international matchup, we won't see him until Week 9's home game with the Cleveland Browns.
While that's frustrating for fans eager to see their team's biggest offseason acquisition (not helped by a 1-4 start to their season), it might be what's best for Tyson. Giving him another week or two to fully recover from his preseason hamstring injury should lower the chances of aggravating it. The Saints are also expecting to get running back Travis Etienne Jr. back from injured reserve after the bye, so those two additions could arrive at the same time. We'll see if that's the route New Orleans takes, or if they throw us a curve ball.
