Jordyn Tyson has yet to make his NFL debut, but the New Orleans Saints are making sure their first-round pick remains involved with the team. Tyson traveled with the Saints for their second game against the Baltimore Ravens. Injured players, especially those on IR, don't always travel with their teams on the road, which makes Tyson's presence and encouragement of development especially valuable as he works his way back from a hamstring injury.
New Orleans selected Tyson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after a standout career at Arizona State. He quickly emerged as one of the team's most impressive players during training camp before injuring his right hamstring during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. NFL Network's
Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported that Tyson was expected to miss roughly two months. New Orleans subsequently placed him on injured reserve, requiring him to miss at least the first four games of the season.
Traveling with the team doesn't necessarily mean Tyson is ahead of schedule. Still, it does let the rookie stay connected with his teammates and experience the weekly routine of an NFL road game before he even plays in his first one. That could make his eventual transition back into the lineup smoother once he is medically cleared.

The Saints have relied heavily on Chris Olave while waiting for Tyson to make his debut. Olave has caught 18 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown through two games, while Devaughn Vele, Bryce Lance, Barion Brown, and Juwan Johnson have helped fill out Tyler Shough's group of targets. Tyson cannot return until New Orleans' Week 5 game against the New England Patriots at the earliest. His continued presence around the team is at least a positive sign while the Saints wait for their prized rookie to get healthy.
