Atlanta Falcons Hate Week marches on, with the New Orleans Saints preparing to face their archrivals in a Monday Night Football prime-time feature on Sept. 28. So it's fitting that we're looking to another Monday night game for today's Saints Play of the Day. Jabari Greer went the distance back in 2009.
Second-year Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had earned some confidence after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2008, and this midseason prime-time game seemed like a great opportunity for him to fully assert himself as a threat in the NFC South.
Ryan took over with a minute left in the half, trailing by a touchdown. But he threw a touchdown pass to the wrong team -- Greer jumped the route and picked him off, returning 48 yards for a score.
It was one of three interceptions Ryan threw that Monday night, and while it wasn't the most embarrassing interception Ryan would throw against New Orleans (you can thank Shy Tuttle's Thanksgiving Day takeaway for that) but it was one of his most impactful. Roddy White got Greer back with a long touchdown catch against him later on, but it was too little, too late. The Saints won 35-27. You can see the highlights for yourself right here.
