NFL referee Land Clark has been assigned to Week 4's game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, as reported by Football Zebras
. Clark has worked at various levels of football, going through the NFL referee development program, and then officiating as a referee and deep wing official in the PAC-12 Conference. In 2018, he made the jump to the NFL and was promoted in 2020 to be a referee.Now to the stats. The Saints are 2-5 in games Clark has refereed, while the Falcons are 3-6. Clark's crew has thrown slightly fewer penalty flags than league average at 42 total, 14 on average per game, for 303 total yards or 101 average. However, they have thrown more flags on home teams (24) than on visitors (18) in those matchups, via NFLPenalties.com.
Nine of the penalties thrown were either offsetting or declined as well.
Kellen Moore's team needs to find more discipline than they had this past week, but as a whole have been able to do so this season. So far through three games, the Saints offense has drawn 19 penalties for a loss of 124 yards (the 4th-fewest), and the defense has been hit with 20 penalties to yield 114 yards (the 2nd-fewest). As for Atlanta, they sit at 21 penalties for 218 yards (6th-most) on offense, and 22 penalties for 160 yards (19th-most) on defense.
