The New Orleans Saints are moving on from Kendre Miller. The team is releasing the fourth-year running back, according to NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill, ending a tenure marked by injuries and limited production.
New Orleans selected Miller with pick No. 71 overall out of TCU in the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in just 21 games over his first three seasons, with hamstring injuries, a concussion, and a torn ACL interrupting his promising development.
The 24-year-old has rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 57 carries this season, averaging 2.8 yards per attempt. He also caught nine passes for 37 yards in six appearances.
Miller's best rushing performance this season came against the New York Giants in Week 6, when he gained 70 yards on 20
carries. He followed that with just six yards on eight attempts against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.
The decision comes days after the Saints claimed RB Audric Estime off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. Travis Etienne Jr.'s return from injured reserve also looms over the coming weeks.
