Finally. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is expected to make his rookie debut as soon as next Sunday's home game with the Cleveland Browns, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, who added that "But even if it’s not then, he is not far away from playing." The big news isn't the possibility that Tyson could be in the game when the Saints host Cleveland on Nov. 8; it's that he should be back on the practice field even sooner. There was hope that Tyson would at least return to practice when the Saints were preparing for last week's game with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris, but he continued to be limited in rehab work separate from the rest of the team.
Tyson hasn't practiced in team drills since Aug. 14, when he suffered a hamstring injury during
a joint practice session with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The extended absence combined with Tyson's history of hamstring issues -- which became a major point of controversy when the Saints picked him eighth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft -- has led to speculation by fans and even former players in the media that he may have suffered a setback in what's become a monthslong recovery. But that doesn't line up with what's being reported on the Saints beat.
NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill shared some clarity on the uncertainty surrounding Tyson: "My understanding is they have just used a very detailed approach that has involved outside testing to make sure it’s as safe as possible. I could have incomplete info, but I don’t think there’s a conspiracy here."
Hopefully Tyson gets on the practice field when the Saints regroup Wednesday, proves that he's ready to play, and is activated when the team kicks off with the Browns next Sunday. The sooner these injury troubles are behind him, the better. While the Saints don't look like they have much to play for at 2-5, they're only a couple of games out of the always-weak NFC South, and getting real production of their first-round pick would do a lot to change the bad vibes surrounding this team. Let's see how much longer we'll have to wait for Tyson to catch his first touchdown pass from Tyler Shough.
