NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Tuesday morning that former New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal is signing with the Washington Commanders practice squad. This comes just one day after former Saints running back Audric Estime was signed by the Cleveland Browns.
Neal, 23, was a sixth-round pick by the Saints in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Kansas Jayhawks. As a rookie, Neal appeared in ten games with three starts. He had 206 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns and an average of 3.6 per carry in addition to 17 receptions for 104 yards. An ankle injury knocked Neal out for the last three games of his 2025 rookie campaign.
Neal was expected to be a factor in the New Orleans backfield this season. However, back-to-back hamstring injuries forced
the Saints to put him on injured reserve. From there, he was released by the team with an injury settlement. The Minnesota Vikings signed both Neal and Estime to their practice squad at the end of September. Minnesota released Neal just prior to their Week 5 matchup against the Saints. Devin Neal has yet to appear in a game this year.
