Hector Fort has said a heartfelt goodbye to Elche after a season on loan with the Liga side from Barcelona.
The right-back missed a chunk of the season after dislocating his shoulder but still played 14 times in La Liga for the club, scoring twice and bagging two assists.
Fort has now said goodbye and spoken about his time away from Barcelona this season.
“When I headed to Elche, I had doubts and fears about how I would fit in or how you would welcome me… but from the very first moment, I knew this
club was going to be my home. You welcomed me from day one, extended a helping hand, and made me one of the green and white stripes.
“I’ve learned and improved more than I could have ever imagined, valuing every victory as if it were my last and enjoying every minute I played with you. To my teammates, the staff, and the fans: THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I am infinitely grateful for the year I’ve spent here.
“The injuries that prevented me from being at 100% when the team needed me most have made me appreciate and enjoy you all even more, both in the good times and the toughest ones.
“I leave proud, happy, and full of lessons learned that have undoubtedly made me a better footballer. Today, Elche remains a First Division team, and will be again next season. Thank you very much, and ¡Mucho Elche!”
Fort is facing something of an uncertain future now. There has been speculation he will be given a chance in pre-season by Hansi Flick who also has Xavi Espart, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia as right-back options.
