UFC Paris took place Sept. 6 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. Nassourdine Imavov (17-4, 1 no-contest) and Caio Borralho (17-2, 1 no-contest) clashed in the main event, which aired live on ESPN.

Round 1
Imavov out in orthodox, Borralho in southpaw. Bouncing from both men as they battle for center position. Imavov gets it and start to advance. Borralho goes high with a head kick that gets blocked. Imavov throwing some stepping kicks to Borralho’s lead leg.
Imavov putting solid pressure here, getting Borralho back to the fence. Borralho seems confident in it but eats a right hand as he circles away. Both men showing patience through the first 90 seconds.
Imavov seems to have the range dialed in early with his kicks and lead hand fighting. Borralho hasn’t gotten anything going and shifts stances. Then back to southpaw, just testing looks.
Super lazy shot from Borralho. Not even really a shot, just ducked his head and walked in. Imavov grabbed the neck and defended. Borralho still walked into a clinch though and attempted a footsweep that Imavov stepped out of and then broke free.
Imavov with more pressure. He’s winning the lead hand fight thus far and gets a left in there. Still nothing major but he is scoring some and Borralho has done next to nothing but a few kicks that have been blocked.
Imavov definitely winning the optics here as he backs Borralho up and combos as Borralho covers up. Borralho starting to look uncomfortable now. Doesn’t seem to have an idea how to get something going.
So he says YOLO and throws a looping right hand into a clinch. Good knee to follow that up and then drives Imavov to the fence. Attempts another footsweep. Imavov defending with not much time left in the round. Borralho holding him here for now as Imavov tries to squirm out but can’t and the round ends here.

Round 2
Both men appear to be in great shape. Granted, not a ton of action in that round but neither man even remotely winded.
Imavov back to the center with the pressure. Borralho trying to back him up early though and circling off more aggressively. Imavov counters a low kick with a pair of hooks. He’s starting to time that. Borralho keeps kicking though, body and legs.
Borralho really cannot get anything with his hands thus far. He is upping his work a bit though. And he’s feinting more. Imavov waiting to draw him in and then counter with hooks in combination.
Still a slow pace in this one, halfway through the round. Imavov has fast hands so he’s landing some, and Borralho is chipping in with kicks, but no huge advantage either way. Imavov winning the footwork battle is the biggest edge here. RDR and Fluffy must be so happy about this one though.
Imavov lands a decent one. Borralho with another dreadful takedown that gets stuffed with ease. I don’t know what his plan is but it’s not a good one.
Imavov leaps in with a nice left hook and lands it. Imavov turning it up in the final minute, looking to put a stamp on the round.
But then he doesn’t. They keep doing the same and Borralho even walks off before the end of the round. This is not the most fun fight ever.

Round 3
Per the stats, Borralho apparently out-landed Imavov by A LOT in the first round but I don’t see how. So maybe it’s 1-1 I guess. But I’ve got it 2-0 for Imavov.
Borralho was told to make this fight dirty and he comes out and immediately gets rugged. Now we’re fighting! Big shot puts a jolt into Borralho as he takes one while getting in there. Still battling and they clinch, and Borralho lands a low blow that stops the action.
After a decent break we return to action.
Borralho advancing now and showing more energy. He leaps in but can’t find his left. Now he steps in for an elbow that misses. Clinch and Imavov separates.
Imavov on the backfoot a little bit here and that’s better for Borralho. But he takes a right hook. Then lands his own that catches Imavov off balance. His best punch of the night.
Imavov back to the lead though as Borralho lands a good calf kick. He’s starting to land more. Front kick misses the head from Borralho. As he’s gaining confidence he’s landing more. Clash of heads and Imavov lands a right hook.
Borralho jumps in with a 1-2 and then gets poked in the eye. Even on fouls now as we take a break for Borralho to recover.
Oof. Replay shows bad eye poke. Textbook what they say not to do.
We resume and there’s a burst of energy from both men. Borralho with a good jab and committing. Imavov cracks a good right hook but Borralho takes it well. And then he changes levels as Imavov steps in but Imavov has great hips. Stuffs that. Borralho drives him to the fence though.
In-fighting here with knees from Borralho. Imavov turns position and breaks out with 30 seconds left. Nice body shot from Imavov. Nice right from Borralho over the top. This has been his best round and he finally wins one.

Round 4
Imavov right on the attack. He has some pep in his step. And lands a decent elbow over the lead hand fight. Then a right hand in close.
Borralho with a blocked head kick. He looks to be the more tired fighter. Borralho feinting. Imavov trying to land the right but he’s missing more now. Leg kick from Imavov strays low. But Borralho shakes it off almost immediately and we resume.
Imavov throwing HEAT with that right hand but still missing. Borralho eats one to the body and then lunges in recklessly. Imavov putting the pressure on now and RIPS the body again. Borralho lands back but he’s gotten the worst of this round at the halfway mark.
Borralho with a calf kick and that’s showing some color on Imavov. But Imavov is marching him down. Clinch from Imavov now and puts Borralho to the fence. He’s taking over this round. But Borralho almost hits a very cheeky footsweep. Now they swing in space and Borralho comes up with air as Imavov lands.
Imavov looking great this round as Borralho may be fading. Beauty of a 1-2 from Imavov. Borralho’s offense has slowed to a crawl. Borralho is in real danger of needing a finish now. But Imavov is the guy who looks more likely to get one.
Imavov ducks an elbow and clinches Borralho, driving him to the fence. Borralho getting worked this round as Imavov lands on the break before the round ends.

Round 5
Borralho almost certainly needs a finish now. But Imavov looks sharp and in good shape. And Imavov charges across the cage. But Borralho cracks him with a good left hand early. Imavov eats it.
And Imavov just keeps charging. Loops a right hand over the guard. Fighting Nerds about to go 0-2 against the French unless something dramatic happens.
But Imavov keeps coming. He’s the one on the attack and Borralho doesn’t have it. Lands a decent right hook there. Then tries a stepping elbow that misses. He keeps trying that and it’s not working at all.
Borralho needs to go for broke here. His only chance is to accept that he’ll get hit and hope he hurts Imavov in the exchange. Because Imavov keeps picking him apart at range. And another eye poke from Imavov.
Fortunately, there’s 0 percent chance Imavov is going to get a point taken lol. That’s 2 eye pokes and 2 low blows from Imavov with zero penalty. Always cheat in MMA, kids. Referees suck at their jobs.
Goddard gives a “hard warning” before the restart. LOL. OK. Sure.
Borralho swings hard and misses. Imavov lands a mega right hook. Imavov not going anywhere at all and Borralho is not selling out. He has 90 seconds to go bananas. And now we’re clinching so he has 60 seconds.
Borralho pretty winded in there. Imavov keeps putting hands down the pipe and Borralho is just not willing to go for it. But the strike numbers have this incredible close which is wild. I think this should be a clear win for Imavov but it may end up being a splitty? Scorecards might be wonky.
10 seconds and Imavov and Borralho swing a bit with a good shot landing for Imavov.
