The 2026 season has come to its conclusion, and with it, the chaos that is the NCAA transfer portal has officially opened. While teams navigate the Mountain West-Pac-12 split, I will be keeping track of who teams lose and gain through the portal window. I was quite busy over the past week, so I was unable to keep up with the portal as well as I had previously. With that being said, several moves have been made by teams new to the portal this year, so let’s dive right in.

Outlook: Colorado State finally made a transfer add on Wednesday, their first such addition under new head coach Michelle Gascoigne. Sebastopol, California native Kylee Bauman spent last season as a sophomore with the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs, where she slashed .412/.512/.919, mashing 18 home runs with 47 RBIs. Bauman should be an immediate jolt to a Ram offense losing a lot of its production as it enters the Pac-12.

Outlook: As a team, the Houston Cougars were outright bad in 2026, finishing the year 20-31, losing 30 of their final 41 games, and went a pitiful 3-21 in Big 12 play. A large part of this was due to the team’s pitching staff, which finished the year with an abhorrent 7.44 ERA. Ironically, that is exactly what makes Nevaeh Brown such a big addition to the Bobcats’ staff for 2027. Brown was far and away the best pitcher the Cougars had, finishing the year with a 4.75 ERA across 125.1 innings, adding 83 strikeouts (runner-up had 21 Ks). Brown clearly has talent, but the UH softball team has quickly turned into a circus, which muted her production significantly. With a fresh start in San Marcos, Brown looks to thrive in 2027, finalizing a Texas State transfer class that is certainly among the best I will cover in these articles.
Utah State

Outlook: Like CSU, Utah State is heading into the Pac-12 with a new staff, headlined by the hire of Texas’ Associate Head Coach, Kristen Zaleski, to be the Aggies’ next leader. This new regime’s first add was Ohio State LF Tanaya Barrett. The Dublin, California native only recorded 31 at-bats as a Buckeye, slashing .226/.273/.290 with three RBIs. Her high school stats show a .409 career batting average with 63 RBI, so perhaps Coach Zaleski can unlock this underutilized outfielders’ potential in 2027.
