Barcelona are facing plenty of questions right now after suffering consecutive defeats to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Girona in La Liga.
The two losses mean Barcelona face a real battle to retain their Copa del Rey title and have been knocked off the top of the table in Spain.
Bojan Krkic Sr, who previously worked for the club as a scout, has analyzed the game against Girona and tried to put his finger on what’s missing for the Catalans at the moment.
“This Barça is not the same as last
year. It is true that they have important injured players, but their way of playing means that they need fast and skilful players to be able to overcome the opponent’s lines and generate more scoring chances,” he told Cadena SER.
“They must play faster and more vertical football and this is not being achieved now. The greatness of this team depends on the rapid circulation of the ball and, without Pedri, everything is more complicated.
“Barça are generating clear scoring chances despite not playing as well as last year, but Barça are struggling to be effective.”
Barcelona certainly created enough chances to win the game against Girona. They had 27 shots throughout the 90 minutes but managed only one goal – a header from Pau Cubarsi.
