Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s WWE contracts expired in early August. Plenty of fans and industry analysts thought their exit from WWE was part of an elaborate work, given how they got over with fans and sold a crazy amount of merchandise this year, despite receiving very limited TV time. But here we are three months later, and they are still gone from the company.
During late contract negotiations, Kross said WWE pulled their renewal offer within 24 hours after he asked for an explanation of their valuation.
In a new interview on The Coach and Bro, Kross explained how he felt when WWE pulled its offer. He described their negotiating strategy as “very gross.”
“We just kind of shrugged. We’re not fatalists, in the sense of like, if we can’t do what we want, oh my god, it’s the end of the world. Of course it means the world to us to be there and to perform at our best, but also, not under the conditions of that. We’ve always proceeded with logic and fairness, and if that’s not gonna be met, we’re not young, starving, 20 year-olds that are gonna subject ourselves to conversations like that, being spoken to like that. Like, we know what’s going on.
If the conversation is not gonna proceed fairly, then we’ll just say, hey, we’d like to keep dialogue open. We’re not saying no, but we’d like to keep dialogue open. We’d like to further discuss this. Even at one point the guy was like, ‘Well, we’re gonna tell them that you declined the offer.’ And I said don’t do that, ’cause that’s not what I did. Don’t put words in my mouth. Don’t tell them that I declined the offer. If you have something to tell them, tell them that I would like to keep dialogue open.
It was just, the whole conversation, it felt strategic, and very gross.”
