It’s finally here! The women tip off at 6 against High Point, who doesn’t crack even the top 20 teams we’ve played this year in terms of NET. Oh, they joys of being a 2-seed. For their part, High Point has not played a team better than Davidson (NET: 73) or beaten a team better than Vermont (NET: 81) and has dropped games to Radford (NET: 207) and Longwood (NET: 226). They trail us in every single statistical category except for rebounds (+0.2) and in pretty much every way shape up like the type
of early-season team we trounce by 40.
That’s not to say there’s nothing to say about the Panthers (although I keep wanting to call them the Rockers, the minor-league baseball team named after rocking chairs due to High Point’s historical prominence in the furniture-making industry). Macy Spencer and Aaliyah Collins make up a solid big two for the Panthers, combining for 33 of the team’s 74 points per game and 7 of its 15 assists. The top 5 players in minutes are all 6’ tall at most, with Spencer and Collins standing 5’8 and 5’6, respectively. That doesn’t mean they’re bad, I mean Aubrey Galvan is only 5’6 and still balls out, but I am guessing they haven’t played height and length like we have this year. I think we handle business well today and move on to face the winner of Colorado-Illinois on Sunday (feel free to use this as a thread for that game at 8:30 on ESPN2).
