The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report of the week (and first of the 2026 NFL season!) on Wednesday in advance of their Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders.
The Eagles listed ZERO players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE.
Always a good thing to have every player on the roster (and practice squad) available to participate in practice. The Eagles are as close to being as healthy as you could realistically hope them to be entering this year’s campaign.
The Eagles listed two
players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Jonathan Greenard and Eli Stowers.
We previously noted that Greenard returned to practice after missing all of training camp due to a pec strain. The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reported that the Eagles want to see how Greenard fares in practice this week before determining his availability for Sunday. Even if the veteran edge rusher doesn’t suit up against the Commanders, he figures to be back in game action sooner than later. Good news for the Eagles’ defense.
Stowers missed some time late in training camp due to a hamstring injury. Good to see that he’s back in action … but the 2026 second-round pick might very well be a healthy scratch on game day as the fourth tight end behind Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, and E.J. Jenkins.
Markel Bell was notably NOT listed on the injury report. The rookie tackle suffered thumb and leg injuries during the Eagles’ second preseason game that kept him out of training camp thereafter. With the Eagles keeping Fred Johnson on the roster, it’s not perfectly clear how the team plans to handle their tackle depth. Is Johnson the swing tackle? Is it Bell, who outperformed the incumbent veteran but lacks experience? Do the Eagles opt to have a different backup at each starting tackle position? We’ll see.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES INJURY REPORT (WEDNESDAY)
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
EDGE Jonathan Greenard (pectoral)
TE Eli Stowers (hamstring)
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS INJURY REPORT (WEDNESDAY)
The Commanders did not have any players on their 53-man roster missing from practice.
They do notably have star left tackle Laremy Tunsil and starting cornerback Trey Amos on injured reserve to begin the season. Jer’Zhan Newton and Jeremy McNichols are also on IR while edge rusher Deatrich Wise Jr. is on the reserve/PUP list. And then veteran edge rusher Dorance Armstrong is suspended for the first game of the season.
Washington listed three players under limited participation: top running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (his nickname is Bill, isn’t that so interesting, no one ever talks about it) and top edge rushers Odafe Oweh and K’Lavon Chaisson. There doesn’t seem to be a sense that they’re in jeopardy of not playing. Washington is probably just easing them back in from missing time. We’ll see if that continues to be the case over the next two days.
