SmackDown last night (June 19) added a Cody Rhodes Triple Threat WWE title defense to next Saturday’s Night of Champions premium live event in Saudi Arabia. But Gunther and Sami Zayn’s shot at QB1 wasn’t the only championship match the blue brand added to June 27’s card.
Based on how both wrestlers were booked on the latest blue show, the rumored SummerSlam showdown with Charlotte Flair could definitely still be in the works for Jade Cargill. First, she’ll challenge Women’s United States champ Tiffany
Stratton at NoC.
Jade issued the challenge with Michin and B-Fab flanking her, taking credit for Stratton being on the Night of Champions poster in the first place thanks to her injuring WWE Women’s champ Rhea Ripley. That Bitch (her words, not mine) reminding Stratton she took a belt from her at WrestleMania last year.
Tiffy later granted Cargill the match, then questioned Cargill’s reliance on her lackeys before dealing with her own unwanted sidekick, the first-ever Women’s U.S. champ Chelsea Green.
Elsewhere on the episode from Kansas City, Ricky Saints got an exposed turnbuckle-assisted victory over Carmelo Hayes to earn a shot at Men’s United States champ Trick Williams in Riyadh next Saturday.
The loss means Hayes’ streak without appearing in a PLE match will extend to at least 17 months. The former NXT and U.S. champ’s last one was Royal Rumble 2025.
Here’s an updated look at the card for Night of Champions, next Saturday afternoon Eastern time:
- WWE Championship Triple Threat: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Gunther vs. Sami Zayn
- King of the Ring Tournament Final: Jey Uso vs. Oba Femi
- Queen of the Ring Tournament Final: Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY
- Men’s United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Ricky Saints
- Women’s United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
- Steel Cage Match: Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
