Class of 2026 4-star small forward Maximo Adams is set to announce his college decision on Friday, November 14, according to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. The 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing from Chatsworth, California, will choose between Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan State, and Texas.
Adams has been a major recruiting target for Mark Pope, who first offered him a scholarship in July 2023 while still the head coach at BYU. It took a little bit, but Pope extended a new offer to Adams in July of this year,
and then he took an official visit to Kentucky in September, where he met with the coaching staff and current players.
Basketball runs in the family for Adams. His older brother, Marcus Adams Jr., was a top-60 player in the class of 2023 and was also coached by Pope during his brief stint at BYU. Marcus originally enrolled at Kansas, later transferring to Gonzaga, then BYU, and most recently Cal State Northridge, where he earned Second-Team All-Big West honors. He has since transferred again, now joining Arizona State.
As decision day nears, Kentucky remains firmly in the mix. Pope’s relationship with the Adams family could give the Wildcats a chance to land one of the most versatile forwards in the 2026 class.
Saying this, most of the recent buzz has been that North Carolina and Texas are in the best position to land Adams. Rivals’ Jamie Shaw recently predicted one of those two schools will ultimately land Adams, while later adding that Michigan State is the biggest threat to derail that prediction.
