The second full week of conference play is behind us and a clear leader has emerged for the conference championship. With that being said, there have been a number of outstanding performances and the race
for postseason honors appears to be a tight one. Let’s take a look at which players stood out from this past week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Corey Camper Jr. (Nevada)
The senior guard had a breakout game in a win over Wyoming. Camper Jr. had 31 points and 7 rebounds in the Wolf Pack’s 92-83 victory over the Cowboys. For the week, Camper averaged 19.5 for a Wold Pack team that has started conference play strong.
Defensive Player of the Week
Tomislav Buljan (New Mexico)
The freshman forward had another great week for the Lobos. Buljan averaged 12.5 rebounds, a block, and 2.5 steals in victories over Air Force and Colorado State. Buljan has emerged as a key contributor for the Lobos, averaging 11.8 points and 9.9 rebounds on the season.
Newcomer of the Week
MJ Collins Jr. (Utah State)
The senior guard had a dynamic week in two Aggie victories. Collins had 25 points (against Boise State) and 20 points (against Air Force) in two blowout victories. Collins Jr. has looked like an NBA talent since heading over from Vanderbilt and has helped to propel the Aggies to the best record in the Mountain West.
Freshman of the Week
Deshawn Gory (Fresno State)
The freshman forward had the best week of his young career for the Bulldogs. Gory had 16 points in both of his games and averaged 13.5 rebounds in contests against San Jose State and San Diego State. If Gory sticks around, he is the type of player that could turn this program around.
