So look here: The Atlanta Braves as of right now (according to FanGraphs) have a 93.3 percent chance of winning the division, a 41.5 percent chance of at least clinching a bye and a 99.7 percent chance of making the Postseason. As such, this is relevant information since more likely than not, Atlanta’s going to be returning to the Postseason this year.
As such, MLB has officially announced the scheduled dates for this year’s Postseason, which is slated to start on September 29 with the Wild Card Round
and run through October 1. The Divisional Series will go from October 3 through October 10 (with the NLDS scheduled to be finished by October 9) and then the Championship Series will take place from October 12 through October 20 (with the NLCS being completed by no later than October 19). That sets us up for the World Series to be played between October 23 and Halloween. Unless there’s rain or Game 7 runs late, there’s no November baseball this season.
The TV situation for the Wild Card Round will be different, as the NBC family of networks will be covering things in that department. Outside of that, the TV figures to be the same — FOX and TBS will carry us through the Divisional Series and the Championship Series and then FOX takes the reins for the World Series.
All of this is pretty familiar and it’s good information to know going forward. Hopefully it’ll all be relevant for Braves fans and we’re in for a nice deep and long run into October before heading into the cold and increasingly precarious-looking offseason. We’ll see what happens!
