Tommy Marques became the latest La Masia graduate to earn his first team debut at Barcelona on Saturday, coming on in the second half of the team’s 3-0 win over Real Mallorca
.Marques has been in and around the first team for a little while now and finally got his first taste of senior football at the Camp Nou.
The 19-year-old admitted afterwards he was dreamland after making his first appearance for the club.
“It’s indescribable, what I’m feeling is incredible. I was talking about it with my teammates,
it’s spectacular. It’s a dream come true,” he told the media.
“It’s hard to get on the pitch because the score has to be comfortable. When they scored the third, Flick called me over and I didn’t even have time to think. My day has arrived.”
Marques also revealed what Hansi Flick had told him before he came onto the ptich.
“Enjoy it, live in the moment, and do what you have to do,” he said.
“[The Camp Nou] is incredible because you watch it from home from a young age, you go to the games… It’s a big shock, it’s spectacular. I’ve gone through many stages to get here. I’m very proud of what it means,”
“It’s time to keep working. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and for all these weeks I’ve spent with them. Every day with them is spectacular. Everyone I’ve met has congratulated me. It’s a dream to be congratulated by your idol.”
Marques is expected to drop back down to Barcelona Atletic tomorrow and could feature against Barbastro.
