Germany’s performances at the World Cup have been mixed so far. A comeback win from behind to beat a strong Ivory Coast side wasn’t perfect but it gave hope to fans after securing first in the group. The defeat that followed against Ecuador has now shown the real cracks in this side, but Julian Nagelsmann’s side has the quality to make a deep run. The question is can the squad deliver?
Rudi Völler was recently poised with the question surrounding Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala’s performances thus
far. The superstars have not yet lived up to the expectations and the pressure is clearly mounting on the players and the manager.
“We know that if we want to achieve the biggest goals, these players have to deliver. They know that themselves. I’m completely optimistic about that as well. They’re not far away from hitting top form. In general, we have a team that, on its best days and playing at its limit, can beat any team in the world,” Rudi Völler said about star German players Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
Völler is bang on with this response. Germany have the potential to do magical things as we have seen in the past when these players are playing to their best, but consequently, the team won’t be able to get far without them. If there was ever a match to get things heating up again for the pair, Paraguay seems like the perfect opportunity for a confidence boost before Germany would likely play France in the Round of 16.
