On Monday evening, Pride of Detroit notched another really exciting and fun moment in the history of our site. We got to record our weekly PODcast on the grounds of the Detroit Lions’ practice facility in the hour lead-up to their scrimmage practice. Streaming live just a few feet from where the Lions were warming up, Erik Schlitt, Ryan Mathews, Meko Scott, and I chatted about Lions football for an hour.
Then, in the middle of the show, Detroit Lions vice president of roster operations/evaluations
Rob Lohman stopped by. He talked to us about his TWENTY YEARS with the Lions, the daily life of an executive on the pro personnel side of the business, how they acquired Devin White, and why this is the busiest time of year for him and his department. That interview begins at the 23:40 mark in the video below.
Our show continued with a couple of rounds of SB Nation’s “In-5” game, where live contestants tried to guess the current Lions player based on a series of five hints, and one walked away with a HUGE prize.
We closed things out with some more Lions talk, including what we’re looking for in Saturday’s preseason game, in which the Lions are expected to play a “significant” amount of their starters against the Washington Commanders.
This week, we’re embedding the video of the PODcast, but you can also catch the audio version on any podcasting platform, including Spotify.
Thanks again to the Detroit Lions for the opportunity to film at the Allen Park facility, and a special shoutout goes to VP of Communications Eamonn Reynolds and Neil Larson, the production manager of One Pride Productions, for their hands-on help before, during, and after the broadcast!
