During yesterday’s heated practice against the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints star RB Alvin Kamara left with a knee injury. Shortly after, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that Kamara avoided a significant injury and will be out for a few weeks. This was optimistic news for the Saints and could still allow Kamara to play in Week 1, but today, that news took a bit of a turn. Although the injury was not significant, Adam Schefter reports that Kamara is now set to miss at least a month
with an MCL sprain.
With this injury and the recent news about WR Jordyn Tyson, it seems this team has been hit hard by the injury bug this offseason. Hopefully it turns around during the season, which would be a bit of the reverse from what we saw last year, but it’s starting to get worrisome.
Regarding the current RB room, Travis Etienne was already the first option but now, Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, or Audric Estime must step up as RB2.
Each player complements Etienne’s game pretty well, so this is not a horrible situation, but Kamara was having a really good camp. For the RB competition, this injury opens the possibility of Miller, Neal, and Estime all making the roster, but just as they are doing at WR, the Saints are likely to look at outside options as well.
