After it looked like things were all wrapped up between Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano last week, things have gone radio silent.
Because of that, Bayern Munich officials have been asked about the status
of things a few times this week already. Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) caught up with board member for sport Max Eberl and chief executive officer Jan-Christian Dreesen about the the situation and neither offered anything concrete:
Dayot Upamecano has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract despite the verbal agreement
Max Eberl was asked after last night’s game if something could still go wrong: “I don’t think so. As long as the contract isn’t signed, there will be no announcement. That’s normal in life.”
Jan-Christian Dreesen: “We said that we made promises to each other, that the signature is now still missing, and that we will get it done in the next few days. Will it happen this week? Most likely.”
Is there a chance that Upamecano and his representatives are having second thought? Maybe, but it is doubtful considering the fallout that would occur after Upamecano, himself, asked for his offer to be put back on the negotiating table after the club pulled it.
