The Detroit Lions opted to move up in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft to select Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore.
The Lions’ trade up six spots cost them the second of their fourth-round picks. Here are the trade terms:
- Lions get: Pick 44
- Jets get: Pick 50, Pick 118
Moore fills the Lions’ big need at defensive end. Their current room only included Aidan Hutchinson, DJ Wonnum, Payton Turner, and Ahmed Hassanein. Now Moore will compete with Wonnum for playing time opposite Hutchinson.
Moore was a two-year starter at Michigan, posting four
and 10 sacks in his last two seasons, respectively. A team captain in 2025, Moore fits Detroit’s preferred size (6-foot-4) and length (81 1/4 inch wingspan). He was one of the most productive pass rushers in the Big 10, posting 17.5 pressure rate, per Dane Brugler’s draft preview.
The Lions’ next pick is now scheduled for Pick 118—a mid fourth-round pick.
