The Syracuse Orange picked up a commitment from Florida State transfer wide receiver Elijah Moore on Friday afternoon. He becomes the second wide receiver that joins Syracuse from the transfer portal this offseason.
Moore only appeared in 14 total games with the Seminoles in two seasons. He caught five total passes for 69 yards with Florida State. Moore redshirted after playing four games during his freshman season in 2024. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.
The Maryland native was a highly
rated recruit out of high school. He was a consensus four-star recruit, top-15 prospect in Maryland and top-55 wide receiver.
Moore joins Miami (OH) transfer Cole Weaver and Boise State/Glendale CC transfer Zamondre Merriweather as wide receivers who have joined the Orange this offseason from the transfer portal. Syracuse needs to replace six wide receivers who have entered the transfer portal. Johntay Cook, Darrell Gill, Emmanuel Ross, Jaylen Hornsby, Gabe Daniels and Ja’Meer Thomas are the former Orange wide receivers in the portal.
Umari Hatcher initially entered the portal but withdrew his name on Wednesday. He is reportedly looking for a waiver to play at Syracuse for one more season. In addition to those leaving via the transfer portal, the Orange also need to replace Justus Ross-Simmons from the receiver room. The Rochester native is out of eligibility after two years at Colorado State and two years at Syracuse.
Moore is the eigth transfer that Syracuse has received a commitment from this offseason. He joins Weaver, Merriweather, South Carolina tight end Michael Smith, LSU running back Ju’Juan Johnson, Jackson State running back Ahmad Miller, Georgia State defensive tackle Jartavius Flounoy and Toledo linebacker Chris D’Appolonia as Orange transfers.
The transfer portal remains open for entry until January 15th. Players must enter their names into the portal before the deadline. Schools can still sign players after the deadline as long as the player is in the portal before the deadline.
