The Missouri Tigers capped off a 49-27 win over Mississippi State on Senior Night in Columbia, Missouri — improving to 7-3 (3-3 SEC) on the season.
Mizzou may not be in the 12-team College Football Playoff
— but they intend on finishing the season strong, and this recent win over the Bulldogs showed exactly why. In a blowout victory, Missouri showed why they’re still a force to be reckoned with in the SEC.
Let’s get to our latest MV3 as the regular season is all of a sudden winding down:
- Ahmad Hardy
25 carries on exactly 300 rushing yards and 3 TDs. The SEC’s leading rusher had struggled in yardage production recently, but that was certainly not the case on Saturday night. An impressive performance put him in the record books. Ahmad Hardy became just the sixth player in SEC history to rush for 300 yards, and he now ranks second in Mizzou Football program history for single-game rushing yards behind Devin West. Not a bad night for the Mississippi native.
He’s putting up Doak Walker type numbers, that’s for sure.
Retaining Hardy in the offseason will be priority No. 1 for Mizzou.
2. Toriano Pride Jr.
Missouri’s secondary has been considered a weakness throughout this season, but there’s no question that this unit has been improving. In the Border War win over kansas — it was the offensive players from St. Louis that stepped up. In a Senior Night win over Mississippi State the defensive players from St. Louis shined.
Toriano Pride Jr. made the most from his last game at Faurot Field with three total tackles, a fumble recovery, and a pick-6.
A timely play from Toriano as this pick-6 essentially put the game away. There’s only a couple of more games for Pride in a Tiger uniform, but he certainly ended on a high note at home.
3. Marvin Burks Jr.
Burks led the team with 12 total tackles on the night and came up with the second pick-6 of the game to put Mizzou ahead 42-24 early in the 4th quarter.
The junior safety showed we he was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and he will look to lead Mizzou’s secondary as a senior next season.
Honorable Mention: Darris Smith
