Bayern Munich is gearing up to face Norwegian side Viking FK in the Champions League, and they will train in Norway instead of Säbener Straße. The decision came from Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, who wanted to test out an unfamiliar pitch so his players could get accustomed to it:
Usually before Champions League away games, Bayern complete the final training session at Säbener Straße and then travel in the afternoon. However, Vincent Kompany will make an exception for Tuesday’s game against Viking
Stavanger. The team will travel to Norway on Monday morning and complete the final session at 6pm in the Viking Stadium. The reason is that Bayern will play on artificial pitch, and to allow his players to adapt to the unfamiliar surface, Kompany decided to change the plans.

Kompany clearly wants the upper hand because the club has made it a priority to win the Champions League this season, so every positive result counts.
