The carousel of who the Yankees are vaguely interested in keeps spinning, as word broke yesterday that Edward Cabrera was going to Chicago in a deal with the Cubs — not only that, but apparently the Yankees were
never seriously involved in talks with Miami for his services. Sure! Why not. Well, eventually they’ll do something, I’m sure, as the offseason is far from over, but I empathize with those who are getting antsy waiting for them to do something of substance instead of hearing about the same three areas of need and the same solutions over and over.
That feeling of time running out isn’t nothing though, and Jeff leads off for us today discussing that issue with this offseason thus far. Then, Michael gives a birthday spotlight to the Giambino and his mainstay in the Yankees’ lineup throughout the aughts before Matt takes us through the latest in our free agent series by reliving the era of El Duque.
Questions/Prompts:
1. What is with the disconnect between media reports and the actual interest the Yankees have shown in offseason targets so far?
2. If the season started today, who is the biggest offseason winner? Who’s the biggest loser?
