The Atlanta Hawks have traded guard Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for former Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports:

All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN.
The trade ends Young’s stint as the face of the Hawks and sends the 27-year-old to his preferred destination in the nation’s capital. Top Wizards officials Michael Winger and Will Dawkins have searched to anchor their young talent in the next step of the team’s development.
Jake Fischer reports that no draft capital is changing hands in this trade.
The Wizards were reported earlier today to be Young’s preferred destination, and the trade comes a few days after reports that Young and the Hawks were working together to find a mutually agreed-upon trade destination for the multiple time All-Star.
Young, who has only played in 10 games so far this season, is averaging the fewest number of points (19.3) and assists (8.9) per game since his rookie campaign, and the fewest rebounds (1.5) of his career. McCollum likewise is having a down year, averaging the fewest points (18.8) in his 35 games this season since his sophomore campaign, and the fewest assists (3.6) since the 2018-19 season.
