Since roundabouts in Mississippi have become heavily associated with Oxford, I figured we could have a weekly roundabout here. On our first exit we will look around the SEC. If we keep going straight we will look at the upcoming Rebel games across all sports. The third turn will look at some of the Rebel sports that aren’t currently in season while our u-turn will take a glance at the previous week.
Exit 1: Around the SEC
Texas A&M at No. 14 Missouri: 11:00am on ABC. Can Mizzou avoid the current trend of let downs following
a big win? Can Marcel Reed and the Aggies right the ship?
South Carolina at No. 16 Florida: 11:45pm on SEC Network. Another devastating loss for the Gamecocks. Florida looks to prove the blowout to Missouri was just the result of a post-win hangover.
No. 1 Texas vs Oklahoma: 2:3opm on ABC. Throw out the rankings and records. This rivalry can get weird. Longhorns can’t afford to drop this one.
No. 15 Tennessee at Arkansas: 3:15pm on SEC Network. It may not matter, but the health of Faizon Brandon will be the story of this one.
No. 10 LSU at Kentucky: 6:00pm on ESPN. Can Kiffin overcome his usual struggles against Kentucky? Will the Wildcats force their way back into the CFP conversation with a homecoming win?
No. 2 Georgia at No. 6 Alabama: 6:30pm on ABC. The game of the week. Georgia has their first real test and it’s on the road. Bama has a chance to announce their return to the top of the sport.
Exit 2: Upcoming Games
Friday October 9
Softball vs Jacksonville State at 2:00pm
Softball vs ICC at 4:30pm
Volleyball at No. 10 Tennessee, 5:30pm on SEC Network+
Women’s Soccer at Georgia, 6:30pm on SEC Network+
Saturday October 10
Baseball vs Samford at 12:00pm
Football at Vanderbilt, 2:30pm on ESPN
Sunday October 11
Volleyball at No. 4 Kentucky, 1:00pm on SEC Network+
Exit 3: Baseball News
The Rebels will host two fall exhibitions starting this weekend as the Samford Bulldogs come to town. The other game will be on October 24th against familiar midweek foe, Arkansas State.
Judd Utermark and Will Furniss will suit up in the fall exhibitions as their eligibility is still up in the air. They are on the roster and will continue practicing until a court rules them ineligible.
D1 Baseball has ranked the Rebel transfer class as the No. 8 class in the nation. The class is headlined by Trey Hawsey from Louisiana Tech and Caleb Koskie from Indiana.
Exit 4: A Look Back
The Rebels had a much needed bye week as Pete Golding has challenged his defense to be more physical going forward. There seems to be a vicious trend playing out in the SEC— win a big game, lose terribly the next week. Ole Miss led the way with their embarrassing loss in the Swamp. The Gators proceeded to get blown out against Missouri who lost to Mississippi State the prior week. State rode their high straight into despair as the Crimson Tide rolled right over them in Starkville this past weekend.
