It should absolutely not come as a surprise to anyone, but this morning, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro confirmed that the Phoenix Suns plan to fully guarantee Jordan Goodwin’s contract today.
As Gambo
noted, the $2.35 MM contract had just a $25K guarantee after the Suns claimed him off waivers from the Lakers this summer.
In 33 games, Goodwin has made his presence felt. He has quickly become a staple in Jordan Ott’s rotation and a major piece in the culture change that has taken place with his relentless approach.
Goodwin is averaging 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals in 21.8 minutes per game on a 41/37/77 shooting split.
As our Bruce Veliz broke down yesterday, Goodwin has more than earned it with his stellar play this season. He has shot the ball extremely well of late, including a career high 24 point game for the ages in the win against the Thunder.
Goodwin will play his former team (Grizzlies) tonight, who the Suns actually traded him to back in the 2023-24 season after his first stint in Phoenix. A full circle moment.
Let’s all take a moment to thank the Lakers for gifting us this gem!
