Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky Women’s Basketball Team had a tough regular season in Southeastern Conference play, finishing the year with a 23-9 overall record and going just 8-8 in the SEC.
That .500 record led to a finish in the middle of the pack when it came to SEC regular season standings, with Kentucky officially receiving the No. 9 seed heading into this week’s Conference Tournament.
Brooks and his team demolished Arkansas on Wednesday (94-64) before taking care of business against Georgia (76-61)
on Thursday.
Now, for the third day in a row, Kentucky will suit up today with hopes of making the Semifinals on Saturday, and the matchup is certainly an interesting one.
Less than a week ago, Kentucky narrowly lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks (60-56) at the Historic Memorial Coliseum. The game came down to the wire and, in the end, the better team made winning plays down the stretch.
Today, Kentucky gets its chance to avenge the late loss from last weekend and knock off the No. 1 seed in the tournament all in one.
The Gamecocks have proven to be mortal this season with losses to Texas (neutral site) and at Oklahoma, so an upset is far from impossible. It is, however, Kentucky’s third game in three days, and that will certainly weigh on them compared to this being South Carolina’s first game since the weekend.
Tip-off is scheduled for Noon ET with coverage on ESPN.
