The offseason is in full swing, and while there’s plenty of decisions to be made to improve the 2026 team’s chances of a return to the World Series, it’s never as linear as following the regular season. The rumor mill reigns supreme, the Winter Meetings are our yearly benchmark, and sometimes the deals drop in without a hint or whisper of the negotiations getting out. In-between all of this is a lot of waiting around and wondering, which gives some room for fans to tap out and refresh their batteries while the sport resets itself. Looking out for your own team is one thing, but the league-wide moves that others make help dictate the market and have an impact on what the Yankees are going to do, and so we took to the polls to figure out just how much attention the offseason at large is getting.
Overwhelmingly, most of you are still keeping track of what’s going on. A whopping 95 percent of the audience have an eye out for any of the major signings and trades that go down, and 51 percent of you are locked in on beat reporter tweets and Scott Boras musings as they pop up. There’s a handful of you that want to take that well-earned break from fanaticism, whether that’s until spring training opens up or until the standings start to matter again, but otherwise the vast majority are keeping tabs on what goes down when the front offices duke it out.
Brian Cashman’s got a lot to accomplish in this offseason, relative to the rest of the field. The Yankee outfield outside of Aaron Judge is in flux, the rotation needs some early season depth, and the bullpen will be nearly entirely remodeled when all is said in done. The room left in the payroll is a question mark, and however much they spend on their first deal will dictate so much of what else happens — and how long it’ll take. If you’re one of the 95 percent that’s looking forward to all of this, strap in for some interesting months where things can develop in an instant or lay dormant for weeks at a time.
