It’s Monday, and we are back at it! Fresh off a weekend of football games, there was a lot of action! News will continue to come your way, and we are here for it all. Check out our original coverage and what we can find from the World Wide Web below.
Lobos dominate Bruins.
UCLA may struggle to win a game this season, but even so, New Mexico came into the Rose Bowl and got a signature win in the Jason Eck era. They led 14-7 at halftime and pulled away in the fourth with 21 points, turning this one into a laugher. The Lobos
ran the ball with relative ease, despite being without feature back Scottre Humphrey for a good portion of the game. It wasn’t a perfect game, but it didn’t need to be, as the Bruins committed 13 turnovers and were clearly the lesser team in this contest. Meanwhile, the Lobos are for real.
Aggies offense rolls over the Falcons.
Utah State passed their first test in the conference, neutralizing the triple option and having no issues against their defense. They broke this up open by putting up 21 points in the third quarter while holding the Falcons to only 6. QB Bryson Barnes was outstanding, with two passing touchdowns and three more rushing, totalling over 300 yards passing and rushing. Meanwhile, the Aggie defense forced three turnovers, putting the AFA offense into a lot of passing situations. The article poses the question: Is Utah State good this year? You be the judge.
Nevada starts strong, fades late in loss.
Wins are hard to come by for this Wolf Pack team, and they may get harder if the 14-13 loss to Middle Tennessee State is any indication. They led 13-0 heading into the fourth, and the good times were rolling. They played two quarterbacks and scored through the air, plus on some field goals, aided by a big interception on defense. Nevada threw two interceptions, and Middle Tennessee State took advantage of the second, scoring a TD. Meanwhile, the defense had the dam break, and they missed a field goal to boot, as the team fell apart in every phase.
Fresno State destroys Southern.
Forgive people if they had never heard of Southern before this game. They didn’t exactly make people remember them either, as Fresno State had no issues with this FCS team. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, giving the program an opportunity to empty the bench. EJ Warner had no passing touchdowns entering this game and left the game with four passing TDs. Fresno State had over 500 yards of offense as ten different players caught a pass.
Defense shines for Hawaii in homecoming game.
The Rainbow Warrior offense took a bit to get going, with no points in the first quarter before 14 in the second. However, the defense was ready from the get-go, shutting the Vikings out in the first half and holding them to a lone field goal for the entire game. Luke Weaver filled in once again for Micah Alejado and passed for two TDs and 240 yards. Cam Barfield caught both of those touchdowns and led the team with 50 receiving yards in a game that got more pass-catchers involved. The Hawaii defense held Portland State to 230 total yards and only 41 rushing yards.
