Two questions for the (zero) price of one. Backs against the wall, the Braves can only end tonight in one of two ways (I guess there could be a freak rain delay?): force a winner-take all Game 5, or bow out of their 2026 campaign.
That they’re in this place isn’t surprising given that they have A) allowed homers, and B) not hit many homers. They stole one game of the series while getting outhomered, but asking them to steal multiple that way is an even tougher sell than a single win. The Braves have been
out-homered 7-2 in three games, and well, allowing seven homers in three games is basically a nightmare, especially for a team whose main claim to 90-plus wins was having relievers who didn’t allow key homers late.
While they’ve faced good pitching, the Braves have a .245 wOBA and .251 xwOBA in the Division Series so far; the Dodgers are at .309 and .339, respectively. So, something’s gonna need to change, or something very wacky is going to need to happen for the Braves to live to fight another day… or series.
Who’s going to be responsible for one or the other? Have at it.
