UFC 329 just topped UFC Sphere for the highest grossing gate in UFC history.
That should help UFC recoup some of the losses associated with this train wreck in Miami. No question the $25 million haul is a result of Conor McGregor’s return to competition, which should give you an idea of why UFC CEO Dana White was willing to overlook McGregor’s recent legal troubles, in which “Notorious” was found liable for sexual assault.
“The Conor McGregor effect is huge,” White told ESPN. “Our biggest gate ever
was the Sphere, $22 million, this gate beat it at $25 million. So this is the biggest gate in UFC history for his return. The city is buzzing.”
UFC and Alex Pereira have sold out T-Mobile Arena more than once but have not come close to that number. That’s because UFC raised the prices for McGregor’s return on Sat. night (July 11) against longtime rival, Max Holloway. The event will air on Paramount+ which means no pay-per-view (PPV) bonuses for the headliners, but it sounds like “Notorious” will do just fine when all is said and done.
