There’s a new third-string quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs this season after multiple years. Rookie Garrett Nussmeier overtook Chris Oladokun on the depth chart, even earning a spot on the 53-man roster because he performed well enough to keep.
After Oladokun went unsigned through the initial wave of practice-squad headlines, the veteran also lost his jersey number to his competitor.

City waived Oladokun with an injury designation Sunday, opening a spot in a quarterback room that includes Patrick Mahomes, Justin Fields and rookie Garrett Nussmeier.
The Chiefs then made another change involving the quarterback: They reassigned his jersey number.
Nussmeier, who wore No. 14 throughout training camp and the preseason, has now been given Oladokun’s No. 19.
