Ahh a bye week is sometimes good for the soul. You know, it’s nice and cleansing. It gives you plenty of time to forgive and forget. Oregon who?
We are back and ready to face the Washington Huskies. I sure hope you’re ready to go because the Huskers are bouncing back this week and this game is going to be great!
Here are your reasons why:
#1 THE DEFENSE
The Husker defense is in the top ten nationally in total defense. They have kept this Husker team in every game they have played and are the reason that the Huskers
only lost by three to both Indiana and Oregon. If they didn’t have to play so much of both of those games, I think they would be ranked even higher.
I like the match up of the Husker rush defense against the Huskies rushing attack. Washington averages only 104 yards rushing per game and is last in the Big Ten in rushing. Their passing offense is quite a bit better, but the Blackshirts will be all over that.
Washington also ranks last in the Big Ten in 3rd down offense, while Nebraska is first in the nation in 3rd down defense.
Look for some defensive points this game as well.
#2 ANTHONY COLANDREA
I believe if Anthony Colandrea could single handedly win these games on his own he would. Anytime the Huskers have struggled to get it done offesnsively, Colandrea has had a spark to get things going for the Huskers. He is a competitor and a big piece as to why the Huskers will win.
#3 THE KEY OFFENSIVE PLAYMAKERS
It’s been a few games since the Husker running backs have been able to make some noise. Their matchup against the Huskies defense looks very favorable this week. Isaiah Mozee and Mekhi Nelson will be able to make some noise this week. If Jamal Rule is back and healthy, look for a big game from him.
On the receiving end look for the Kwazi Gilmore and Anthony Colandrea connection to be solid.
#4 THE OCTOBER SANDWICH
Everyone knows that in order to complete the October Sandwich, the Huskers must win both the first and the last games that they play in October. The first game was won and now all that is left is the last. It’s pretty simple logic here people.
Plus, the October sandwich allows for all the momentum going in to the November Gauntlet.
#5 IT’S HALLOWEEN
The Huskers have had a lot of success historically on Halloween games. They are 17-2 all time on games played on Halloween.
Also, this is a night game and it’s a blackout. The stage is set and everything is right for a Husker win.
GOOOOO BIIIIGGG RED!
